Caveat: This is just one thought on these articles that raise several interesting points and which I have admittedly read in a somewhat cursory manner.
I'd agree with Dave or perhaps Akuno, and not with Don re: fascism in the U.S.
I think the rise of a populist, patriotic/ religious, ideological "fascism" financed/ supported by segments of the ruling class is more of a 'clear and present danger' (see "tea partys") in the US, than the "anti-bourgeois" "revolutionary" fascism of the boneheads and friends far right.
Perhaps for those enamored of the "three way fight" perspective, it would be useful to consider Akuno as a mirror image of the arguments made by the "revolutionary" fascists. E.g.- they argue, in part, for similar "base-building"/ coalition attempts with the reactionary, populist, ruling class funded factions. And Dons critique of the limits of pro-revolutionaries allying with populist, liberal-progressive, class-collaborationist coalitions may have a mirror critique for the "rev" fascists.
